Toronto Photowalk – September 2023 – The Beaches and R.C. Harris Water Treatment Plant

Photowalk details:

Date: September, 2023

Location: We met on the wooden boardwalk east of the Woodbine Park Fountain (Map Link). From there, we walked east towards the R.C. Harris Water Treatment Plant and explored the grounds. I pointed out the entrance to the so-called “old beach,” but we decided it wasn’t worth the risk of a fall or tumble to explore it. That beach is accessed through an unlocked gate with a huge sign barring entry, and explaining all the forbidden activities should you enter anyway. Afterwards, we walked back west towards Woodbine Beach West Dock and watched the sunset over the Ashbridges Bay Yacht Club. September’s photowalk didn’t have a theme.

Below are some of the pictures I captured during my first autumn photowalk in Toronto. Most of the photos were taken with my Fujinon 56mm F1.2 R lens, and some with my new Fujinon 23mm F1.4 R LM WR lens.

Muscled man on the beach in Toronto during September.
A fella. One of the photowalk participants was strangely preoccupied with how muscular this man’s back was. Shot using my Fujifilm X‑H2s camera and Fujinon XF 56mm F1.2 R lens. 1/4000 sec at ƒ/2.0 and ISO 160.

I’m mostly sharing this for the colours and contrast. I missed the more photogenic moment when she was reaching for the leaves a few seconds before this frame. Shot using my Fujifilm X‑H2s camera and Fujinon XF 56mm F1.2 R lens. 1/1000 sec at ƒ/1.8 and ISO 160.

This photo is confirmation that the photowalk kept to its schedule. We arrived at the location at just the right time. I’ve emphasized the yellow in the sky by increasing the white balance to 7500K. Shot using my Fujifilm X‑H2s camera and Fujinon XF 56mm F1.2 R lens. 1/2000 sec at ƒ/8.0 and ISO 160.

I couldn’t resist a photo of these perfectly formed duet in the golden sunlight. Shot using my Fujifilm X‑H2s camera and Fujinon XF 56mm F1.2 R lens. 1/180 sec at ƒ/5.6 and ISO 160.
